Speakeasy Vibes
My love of art deco is spreading throughout Williamsburg! First in Anonymous and now in a private residential home bar!
I met this lovely client through a mutual friend, Angie Archibald, who is FABULOUS at connecting women together! She helped this client find her home and the client wanted to add artwork to her at home bar. She was even looking at wallpaper that had the arch design. She is an avid art and book collector and said she would rather pay an artist to do a mural rather than buy wallpaper. I agree!
She had this Kansas City print as the inspiration and the style fits perfectly. We started with this beautiful Iron Ore color as the background. I am IN LOVE!
The bar was tucked in this little hallway between the dining room and the living room and was the perfect transition between the two. She already had these lovely gold light plate covers that she was planning on keeping too!
I started with a template again to make it easier to line up, space, and level out. I marked the center and drew lines 1 inch apart. This helped me as I placed the arches next to each other I could measure out the different heights of each one. I used a level on the side of the template to make sure they were straight and aligned.
I traced around the template with pencil and mapped the entire design on the wall. Then stood back to make sure the symmetry looked right. I used a metallic paint marker to then trace around the template again to match the penciled marks. Once the design is mapped it went pretty fast and smoothly.
Using a diva light helps so much with being able to work on this dark background.

I came back in with the marker to do any touchups and straighten any wonky lines. She's not exactly perfect, but she's pretty close!
And it looks like professional wallpaper!
As always, you have to sign your work!
And of course I had to do a little selfie photo shoot after it was all done!
And a staging photoshoot of her cocktail glasses and recipe books in the space!
