Art Deco in Anonymous

Art Deco in Anonymous

I had an opportunity to put my art up at a local coffee shop called Anonymous Coffee, and as soon as I stepped into the shop I fell in love with the vibes. Moody, minimalist, elegant, plush, cozy, and all around a gorgeous space! It was definitely a great fit.

As I hung several of my pieces I knew this wall needed this simple, yet beautiful arched mural design instead of the small arched painting I was hanging. It needed to be BIG! I spoke with the owner, Terrance Maigi, and he loved the idea! We scheduled it and I got to work. It was inspired by my absolute love of Art Deco style. With the use of metallics in the space with the dark walls, the curved furniture, marbled floors it was made for this design.

I made this template out of a large sheet of a plastic poster board to help me map out my design. I wanted it to be durable and last through multiple projects and you'll see me use it for another residential mural project post soon!

Mapping out the entire design and marking in pencil before going in with the paint pen. There were two large windows and two glass doors for the entrance to frame around. I don't know how many times I climbed up and down the ladder to get it just right. Lots of erasing, measuring, making sure it was level and lines were straight.

The trim around the windows are a copper color so I knew the metallics would pair so well together! Here you can see some of my artwork hanging on the left that again matched the minimal design theme. I love small businesses that support artists! Terrance has several works from local artists hanging at the coffee shop that can be purchased. So go and support local artists and get some great coffee!!

I mean, come on!! Look how fabulous these enso pieces look behind the register! It is like they were specifically designed with Anonymous in mind but I had no idea when I created them where they would end up! They were supposed to go to a local gallery, but he couldn't let them go! Now they have a permanent home!

My favorite part is coming up to the register, ordering your drink, then you turn around to find a comfy seat and BOOM! Mural! You don't even notice it is there at first since it is behind you when you walk in, but you definitely notice when you turn around and before you leave.

And let's take a moment for this copper ceiling!!! I could seriously spend all day in this space if I could!

The lighting, the furniture, the floors! It was so well done and I am so grateful to have been able to add to the amazing ambiance.

So take a moment out of your day to stop by to see and feel for yourself the community Anonymous has created! Tell him Mandy sent you! I'll list their information at the bottom of the post!

And if you are in the market for a commercial or residential mural in your space reach out for a free consult! I'd love to work with you on it! You can send an email to iamartemisrising@gmail.com to schedule.
